The Diviide Space Separator: gaps between bookmarks, no divider
By Sam Wilson. Last updated August 1, 2026.
The Diviide Space Separator splits your bar into groups without drawing a single line, dot, or arrow. You get the gaps that tell one group from the next, and nothing else to look at. If you like a clean bar and just want a little room to breathe between sections, this is your separator. It does its job by doing nothing.
How the space separator works
Every other separator drops an icon onto your bar. The space separator drops a gap. It takes the same room a normal separator would, but it paints nothing, so all you see is the space it opens up between your bookmarks.
It is the one separator with no color. Pick any color you like and it makes no difference here, because there is nothing to paint. You add it just like the rest: find it, drag it onto your bar, and drop it between two groups. For the full steps, see how to add bookmark separators.
When to reach for it
You want groups, not signposts. If your bar already reads well and you just need to break it into sections, a gap does the job without adding more icons to scan.
You want a calm, minimal bar. Colored arrows and dots are great for pointing things out. When you would rather keep things plain, the space keeps the grouping and drops the noise.
You want a mix. Use a bright separator to spotlight the group you open most, and spaces for the rest of the breaks. For more ideas, see creative ways to use separators.
Great in folders too
The space separator is not just for the bar. Inside a folder your bookmarks stack in a vertical list, and the space separator drops in as a blank row. It opens a gap between groups, so a long dropdown reads as a few short sections with room to breathe, and no heading text to add.
It pairs well with labeled separators: use a labeled heading where you want a title, and a space where you just want a break. For more on folders, see how to use bookmark folders.
Common questions
- Does the space separator have a color?
- No. It is the one separator with no color, because it paints nothing. Any color you pick is simply ignored, and you get the same clean gap every time.
- How do I find the space separator?
- Open the separators, press / to search, and type space, blank, gap, or empty. Any of those brings it up. Then drag it onto your bar like any other separator.
- Does the space separator work in every browser?
- Like every Diviide separator, the space separator is built for Chrome and other Chromium browsers, such as Edge, Brave, and Arc, where it drops in as a clean gap. Safari and Firefox are not fully supported. See browser support for the full picture.
