Diviide compared with other bookmark separator tools

By Sam Wilson. Last updated August 1, 2026.

There are a few ways to add separators to a bookmarks bar. Each one makes a trade off. Simple web tools are quick but give you little choice. Feature heavy tools give you choice but run slow and often leave gray globes. Extensions are fast once set up, but they need permissions and can break with updates. Diviide aims for the middle: lots of choice, no gray globes, and no ads.

What to look for

Three things matter most day to day. Does the separator you pick stay on the bar, or do you get a gray globe? Is there enough choice of shapes and colors to build a system you can scan? Can you do it fast, without wading through ads or menus? Those points guided how I built Diviide.

One more thing worth checking is where the icon comes from. Some tools fetch the separator's image from their own server each time, so it can sit blank until it loads, and it breaks if that server ever goes away. A Diviide separator is cached by your browser the moment you drag it in, so there is nothing left to break later.

Where Diviide fits

Diviide is a free website, not an extension. Nothing to install, no permissions to grant. Every separator and color sits on one page. Drag the one you want onto your bar and it keeps its color, with no gray globe. No ads, no advertising trackers, and the code is open source. The easiest way to judge it is to try it: see how to use Diviide, and your first separator is on your bar in a few seconds.
