How to create bookmarks and separators

A bookmark saves a page so you can return to it later. A separator is a special bookmark used to mark where one group of links ends and the next begins. This guide covers both: first the normal bookmark, in every major browser, then the separator.

Create a bookmark

The quickest way is the keyboard shortcut. Open the page, then in Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Arc press Ctrl + D (Cmd + D on a Mac).

You can also click the star icon in the address bar. To keep it on your bar, choose the bookmarks bar (or Favorites bar) as the location.

Safari and Firefox save bookmarks the same way. In Safari, press Cmd + D and choose Favorites as the location, so it lands on the Favorites bar. In Firefox, press Ctrl + D (Cmd + D on a Mac) and pick the Bookmarks Toolbar as the folder.

Create a separator

A separator is a bookmark too, but instead of linking to a page, it marks where one group of links ends and the next begins. Put them in order
